Day 66 - two thirds of the way there!

Day 31 snowboarding for the season!

I spent the day snowboarding and guiding my friend Rob at Sugarbush today. We ended up doing some woods next to Middle Earth for much of the morning followed by Spillsville Woods right before lunch. The snow was great in both places and actually powdery in Middle Earth woods!

After lunch Rob and I found most of our mountain biking crew - Paul and Matt - and did a bunch of runs with their families, and finished the day at Slide Brook, which was skiing much better than last week.

Here are some photos taken with the Sony A6000 and the 35mm prime lens of the practice sessions of the Castlerock Extreme Challenge, which was held on Liftline, underneath the Castlerock chair.

Some people gawk. Others ski.

Day 65 - first bike ride in a week

Wow - the conditions on the trails have certainly changed since last week. Due to a freeze/thaw cycle, the soft snow really locked up and the trails were as firm as they have been all winter since the snow started. It should be lots of fun as the freeze thaws continue and we get some nice firm single track to ride in the early mornings.

Unfortunately, my camera did not fare so well - the battery went out after this one shot due to the single digit temperatures.

Day 64 - winter hike

I wasn't sure whether to ride or hike. So I defaulted to hiking some mountain bike routes to see how things will be tomorrow. The snow is mostly packed down and I'm looking forwards to heading out on the mountain bike tomorrow.

Day 63 - hiking in another round of fresh snow

Although it would be nice if some of the snow melted, it is undeniably beautiful in the woods.

Day 62 - snow shoveling - kind of lame, but it was a hard workout!

I am not a fan of having snow shoveling be an activity, but yesterday, we had a small crew of people remove the snow from our roof, and today I went out and removed some of the removed snow from our deck for more than an hour.

In the process, I saw a really interesting piece of ice that formed on one of our garden sculptures.

Day 61 - hiking in the Fells and across bodies of water

Anita and I had a really nice walk in the Fells - the sun was out, and the soft blowing snow was just beautiful.

Day 60 - another fine day of snowboarding!

I hit 30 days of snowboarding for the season today. It was considerably warmer than it has been this season, with temperatures getting into the upper 20s - heat wave.

We had some really nice runs on Paradise - here is a picture of Katie in action.
